Congratulations to Kelowna resident Jayne Hackman who came away with two gold medals from the highly competitive US Nationals, played at Indian Wells, California, between November 1st & 10th. She becomes a National Champion in the following events:
Women's 4.5 65+ Doubles w/Kathy Evers Women's 4.5 65+ Singles. BC had a large contingent of players (approximately 50) who also competed, many winning silver and bronze medals. Full results here. Congratulations to all medal winners. Following this report from the CBC:
Saskatchewan man barred from U.S. for 5 years after trying to volunteer at festival, here's some sound advice from Ken Purvis of the Kamloops Pickleball Club: "This man’s plight should serve as a bit of a wake up call for those of us who referee in the States. As more and more tournaments offer remuneration for reffing, we certainly would fall under the exclusion category if refereeing was mentioned as the purpose of our trip. Once in a room, access to cell phone data would be unavoidable."
