The Kamloops Pickleball Club got some media attention from their local TV station (CFCJ) Midday show. View below: Walter Knecht, President, PICKLEBALLBC, is delighted to announce the completion of an affiliation agreement with Pickleball Canada. Confirmation came in the form of a note from Doug Thomson, President of Pickleball Canada:
"At our last Board meeting, the Board of Pickleball Canada enthusiastically and unanimously supported our affiliation MOU (Memorandum of Understanding). A signed copy is attached for your records. We would like to thank you and your entire team for navigating this long and winding road. Your perseverance is admirable, and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship to further the sport of Pickleball in British Columbia and across Canada. Best regards, Doug Thomson, President, Pickleball Canada Organization." Click here to see the MOU. "New mayor Harvie vows to invest in Delta’s recreation facilities" is the headline from the Delta Optimist. The article goes on to suggest "...Harvie wants to see expanded and enhanced pickleball facilities to provide 28 dedicated courts at 11 parks in the next four years...." Read the full article here.
From Walter Knecht, President, PICKLEBALLBC:
"Chuck Lefaive, a very fervent pickleball promoter for over 8 years, founding member of both Pickleball Canada and BC Pickleball (retired June this year) is having a very unfortunate summer of 2018. He suffered some health (heart) issues a couple months ago which included a valve replacement and some bypass surgery as well. His recovery has been hampered significantly by poor circulation to the vein donor site. Many attempts have been made to correct and overcome but sadly to no avail. This past week Chuck underwent amputation above the knee on the affected leg. Rita Lefaive, wife, indicates in an email that Chuck has come thru that surgery well, is recovering in the Royal Columbian, Rm 318. His cell phone, 604-868-9989, is bedside and would love to hear from friends and acquaintances. I am sure emails to him would be delivered post haste as well." Lane Roberts's Vernon Pickleball Club membership was permanently revoked for unsolicited coaching and 'unsportsmanlike' play. Read the sad tale as reported by the CBC here.
